Saturnalia tupiniquim

This unassuming little Dinosaur, despite its appearance, is actually one of the earliest Sauropodomorphs; the group that includes some of the largest terrestrial animals to have ever lived; the Sauropods. In comparison, Saturnalia was diminutive, bipedal, and fleet-of-foot; all characteristics of its basal nature. It was also likely omnivorous; with both pointed, seizing teeth at the front of the snout, and more serrated leaf-shaped teeth behind them. The generic name is Latin for "Carnival" and is a reference to the ancient roman holiday of sacrifice and gift giving under the God Saturn. It is known from the Late Triassic of Brazil, and possibly Zimbabwe.
